Game and Player Types
The descriptions below apply to both player characteristics and also the types of games you will find online.
The number of hands a player plays is described as Loose or Tight.
Loose - A player that plays a lot of hands.
Tight - A player that plays few hands.
The Passive and Aggressive terms refer to how many times a player bets their hand.
Passive - These players do not bet that often and are more likely to call or check.
Aggressive -These players tend to be very actively and are less likely to call or check.
If you are a beginner the best games to look for are Loose/Passive games. These games feature players playing weak hands and low betting. If you know what you are doing you can win a lot of hands in these type of games.
The more advanced Texas Hold'em player looks for Tight/Aggressive games. These games have players that play fewer hands and bet heavy on their hands.
